Certificate error is the type of error that you get because of a bug on the Ledger inside infrastructure. This is an error predominantly occurring with XRP. If this is the issue you are faced with now, don’t panic!

While Ledger will have its team working on it there’s a way around this problem, that you can do.

Today, we will walk you through the fix that can be used to fix this type of error. Ready? OK, let’s make a start!

Solution

Make sure you are using the latest version of Ledger Live.

Unfortunately, the only way around this problem is to change the time on your Ledger. In this sense, the certificate will be backdated to the time when it wasn’t expired, and thus run properly.

Please note, that this type of fix is only temporary, and for a permanent solution you need to notify Ledger as the issue sides with them.

There are two quick steps to backdating your Ledger Live app:

#1: Change the calendar month to a few months back when you had no issue

#2: Disable automatic time adjustment

To change the time open the Ledger Live app > Settings > General > Region where you can change the region. This is captured in the image below.

Conclusion

The certificate expired error can be frustrating and at first, it may look like there’s no easy fix, but there is! Use this tutorial to guide you through so you can solve your issue right away. Remember, that this is a quick but temporary fix until Ledger resolves the issue on their end.
